Jordan Aboites joins the CBU Baseball coaching staff after spending the last 4 seasons at Long Beach State, where he served in a variety of roles under multiple coaching staffs. Under Coach Adcock, he will be working with the Lancer offense, infield, and baserunners.
In his first two seasons, Aboites assisted Head Coach Eric Valenzuela in working with the teams pitchers and infielders. The Dirtbags bullpen went on to rank in the NCAA top 25 in shutouts, WHIP, ERA, hits per nine, strikeouts per nine, and walks per nine in the 2022 season. Additionally, he assisted with the infielders helping guide them to a Big West leading fielding percentage as well as ranking in the top 40 in the NCAA in both seasons.
Beginning the 2023 season, Aboites began assisting with the Dirtbag offense under hitting coach Bryan Peters. In that season the team had one of their best offensive years in recent history, including a 62-home run season which ranks 2nd all-time in program history. The team’s .436 slugging percentage was the highest for the Dirtbags since 2002, while the .273 average and .355 on-base percentage were the best since 2010.
Following Head Coach Eric Valenzuela’s departure after the 2023 season, Aboites joined Bryan Peters’ staff for the 2024 campaign, where he added baserunning to his responsibilities. In the 2024 season, the Dirtbags stole a Big West Leading 103 bases, which was good for top 25 in the country and the most since the 2009 season.
Prior to Long Beach State, Aboites served as an Assistant Coach for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the Cape Cod League during the 2021 season. In his first two college coaching seasons, he served as the infield coach while also assisting the pitching staff for Biola University (2019) and Cypress College (2020). In the summer of 2019, he was named the manager of the So-Cal Shepherds of the Sunset Baseball League. In that season, he went on to lead his team to the first playoff appearance in program history and was named the league’s All-Star Game manager. After college, Aboites was signed as a pitcher by the Toros De Tijuana where his team won the Mexican League Championship in 2017, the first in the organizations history. He finished second in the League’s “Rookie of the Year” running posting a 3.09 ERA through 20 games in his first professional season. Jordan played for two other MLB AAA Mexican League teams before retiring from his playing career in 2018. Aboites played at Arizona State from 2013-16, serving as the 63rd Sun Devil in program history to be a two-way player. In 2014, he received the “Fireman Award” as the team’s Top Relief Pitcher, where he had the most appearances out of the bullpen in the Pac-12. Jordan received numerous Pac-12 conference honors as both a pitcher and an infielder, including a spot on the 2016 All-Defensive Team as well as First Team All-Regional honors as both a pitcher and a position player. He finished his senior year as the starting third baseman and Saturday starter, where he posted a 7-2 record with a 3.69 ERA on the mound.
Aboites graduated from Arizona State on the Dean’s list with a degree in Communications and a minor in Family and Human Development. He received academic recognition from the university all 4 years as well as Pac-12 Academic awards for 2014, 2015, and 2016. In the summer of 2022, Aboites graduated from Arizona State with a Master of Science in Family and Human Development.
