Brittany Chambers has been a key member of the California Baptist University women’s basketball coaching staff since August 2017, playing a major role in the program’s rise to national relevance at the NCAA Division I level. Over nine seasons with the Lancers, Chambers has helped guide the program to sustained success, including multiple conference championships, national postseason appearances, and one of the highest winning percentages in program history. She was promoted to Associate Head Coach in 2024 after seven seasons as an assistant coach.
Chambers’ primary responsibilities on staff include recruiting coordinator, defensive skill development, scouting and film preparation, defensive game-plan strategy, and point guard development. Her work on the defensive side of the ball has consistently placed the Lancers among the top teams in the WAC and nationally in rebounding, blocked shots, and defensive efficiency.
During her tenure from 2017–2026, the Lancers compiled an overall record of 188–93 (.669 winning percentage) while competing in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). The program captured three WAC Regular Season Championships, three Conference Tournament Championships, and made multiple postseason appearances. This includes three NCAA tournament appearances, a WNIT Elite Eight run, and a WBI championship, establishing California Baptist as one of the top mid-major programs in the nation.
In the 2023–24 season, California Baptist finished first in the WAC and 14th in the nation in rebounds per game, reflecting the defensive identity Chambers helped build. The following season, the 2025–26 Lancers ranked 10th in the nation in defensive rebounding and top 10 nationally in blocks per game, marking one of the strongest defensive seasons in program history.
Chambers has also played a significant role in developing elite guard play. Under her direction, point guard Ane Olaeta became the 2021 NCAA Division I assist champion, leading the nation in assists per game while directing one of the top offenses in the conference that led California Baptist to a 26-1 record. In 2022, Olaeta was named WAC Defensive Player of the Year, highlighting the two-way guard development that has become a trademark of Chambers’ coaching.
In eight seasons Chambers has recruited and coached 3 WAC Players of the Year, 3 WAC Defensive Players of the Year, 2 WAC Freshman of the Year, and 1 WAC Newcomer of the Year, as well as 22 players that were All-WAC selections, 3 WAC Tournament MVPs, 7 All- Tournament players and 3 WAC Preseason Players of the Year.
In 2026, freshman guard Lauren Olsen earned WAC Freshman of the Year honors, continuing the program’s tradition of developing high-impact perimeter players. Senior forward Emma Johansson also earned WAC Defensive Player of the Year.
Throughout her time on staff, Chambers has been part of several historic milestones for the program, including the first Power-5 victory in school history, a 91–77 win over TCU at the Saint Mary’s Thanksgiving Classic, a result that helped elevate the national profile of the Lancers.
