Swim & Dive Kick Off First Official Meet at Pomona-Pitzer

CLAREMONT, Calif. --- The first meet of the 2025-26 season took the Lancers to Claremont on Saturday, as CBU hit the pool against Pomona-Pitzer and San Diego. The day was a success overall for the Lancers, as they walked away with two of the three head-to-head victories.
For select swimmers, the meet was their second taste of competition this season. CBU kicked off the season last week in Long Beach at the MPSF Open Water Championship.
Saturday was the season debut for the CBU dive team. One meet into the season, the Lancers already have an NCAA Zone E qualifier as John Angelovic hit the mark in one-meter and three-meter dives. Angelovic scored 322.4 in one-meter and 366.5 in three-meter dives.
Angelovic placed first in both diving competitions. Audrey Easter also placed first in both dive events. Easter scored 260.5 in one-meter diving and 245.25 in three-meter diving. Bella Reynolds took second in one-meter and third in two-meter. Jade Fontenelle finished second in the three-meter and third in the one-meter. Connor Dreiling placed second in the men's three-meter.
In the swimming events, CBU opened the day with a win in the men's 400-yard medley relay. The relay team consisted of Benjamin Madson, Ian Mullen, Tyler Mansheim, and Andrew Teh. The next victory came in the men's 1000-yard freestyle as Mark Kovaciscs led the field with a time of 9:20.18. Fernando Manceras (9:59.79) and Cody Meyer (10:02.09) rounded out the top three. Kovaciscs later won the 500-yard freestyle (4:31.95) and 400-yard IM (4:03.73).
Eli Rollen added a first-place finish for the Lancers in the men's 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.91. Rollen later placed first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of Stephen Cui was next:51.10. claimed victory with his time of 51:13 in the men's 100-yard breaststroke.
In the women's 200-yard butterfly, Camille Cottier (2:07.27) placed first, followed by Avery Easterling (2:08.05) with her second-place finish. Iyanah Samayoa added a 200-yard victory in the breaststroke with a time of 2:24.61. Kai Flanagan added the Lancers' next win in the 500-yard freestyle with her time of 5:09.07.
Saturday's final event of the day was the 200-yard freestyle relay. The CBU men placed first with a time of 1:23.96. The CBU women finished second in their event with a time of 1:36.41.
The CBU men were victorious in their head-to-head meet with Pomona-Pitzer, scoring 199.0 points to 99.0 from the Sagehens. The CBU women won against San Diego (178.0-121.0), but fell to Pomona-Pitzer (153.5-146.5).
CBU will be in Riverside next weekend for a two-day meet at the Lancer Aquatic Center. UC Santa Barbara, Denver, and San Diego State will all be in town to battle the Lancers.
