The 2012-13 campaign marks Dr. Micah Parker's fourth year as the Director of Athletics at California Baptist University.

During his first three years at the helm, the Lancers have continued their unprecedented run of success. CBU won four NAIA National Championships, six NCCAA National Championships, six Pacific West Conference Championships and won both the PacWest Commissioner's Cup and the NCCAA Presidential Award, given to the most successful athletic program in the respective associations. And if that weren't enough, Sports Spectrum, a full-color Christian sports magazine, named CBU the top Christian collegiate athletic program in the nation in 2011.

In addition to the success on the field, Parker has also spearheaded the institution's move into the NCAA Division II membership process. In July 2010, Parker was notified that CBU's application into the membership process had been accepted by the Division II Membership Committee, successfully completing a yearlong application process.

Then, in July 2012, the Lancers were notified they were being moved into their provisional year after succesfully completing Candidacy Years 1 and 2. The Lancers began play in the PacWest Conference in 2011-12 and were immediately elgibile for conference championships.

What the Lancers did in 2011-12 was nothing short of remarkable as they won a PacWest record six conference championships with no sport finishing worse than fourth. As a result, CBU won the PacWest Commissioner's Cup. In addition to that, CBU won six NCCAA National Championships, enough to capture the NCCAA Presidential Award, given to the top athletic program in the nation.

CBU also had an unprecedented 108 student-athletes named to the 2011-12 PacWest Academic All-Conference Team. Since his arrival, CBU student-athletes have also maintained a 3.0 cumulative GPA as a department.

Parker has hired 10 new staff positions during his tenure, including the program's first-ever strength and conditioning coaches and also added two full-time compliance staff members along with a full-time facilities assistant. He has also overseen several facility improvement projects, including the addition of lights at the John C. Funk Softball Stadium and the Lancer Aquatic Center, brand new team rooms for men's and women's soccer and men's and women's volleyball, a complete remodel of the Van Dyne Gym locker rooms as well as the baseball and softball locker rooms and the addition of a new scoreboard at the Lancer Aquatic Center.

In 2010-11, his second year in charge, the Lancers won three national championships--women's swimming and diving, men's volleyball and women's golf. Two other teams--baseball and softball--won GSAC titles, and the Lancers finished sixth in the Director's Cup and second in the race for the GSAC All-Sports Award.

In his first year in 2009-10, 16 of the Lancers' 20 teams reached their respective postseason competitions, while 12 of those 16 played in their national tournaments and eight of them finished in the top eight. Men's volleyball won its seventh NAIA National Invitational Tournament title in the past 12 years and both baseball and softball won conference titles. As a result, CBU finished in seventh place in the Learfield Sports-NAIA Director's Cup, its third straight top 10 finish.

Parker's first major accomplishment was the establishment of the Lancer Athletic Association (LAA), the fundraising arm of the department. Through his work with the LAA, he was instrumental in bringing back the Lancer Golf Classic as well as creating and implementing the annual Senior Banquet honoring the graduating seniors each year. He also established the CBU Athletic Fundraising Board, which currently consists of 18 members.

Parker inherited a program that won a pair of NAIA National Championships in 2009, finished an all-time best fifth in the race for the Learfield Sports-NAIA Director’s Cup and had eight programs earn NAIA Scholar Team recognition.

Parker returned to the athletic arena after a 17-month hiatus during which time he served as the headmaster at the prestigious Lutheran South Academy in Houston, Texas. Prior to his time at Lutheran South Academy, Parker spent more than 17 years as a collegiate coach.

Most recently, Parker was the top assistant women’s basketball coach at NCAA Division I Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, from 2003-2007. He served as the program’s recruiting coordinator in his last year after being in charge of player development and serving as camp director his first three years. He helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2007 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Championship and a subsequent NCAA Tournament berth as well as a pair of WNIT Tournament appearances.

A 1991 graduate of NAIA-member Concordia University in Seward, Neb., Parker spent eight seasons as an assistant men’s basketball coach at his alma mater immediately after graduation. During that time, Concordia went 178-75, won three conference titles and made six straight NAIA Division II National Tournament appearances, including a Final Four appearance in 1992.

In 1998, Parker moved to the women’s side when he was named head coach of the women’s program at Concordia. After a 14-14 campaign in his first season, Parker led the Bulldogs 66 wins and into the national rankings during the next three seasons. In his final season of 2002, Concordia was 28-6, ranked as high as No. 6 and advanced to the NAIA Sweet 16. The next season, Parker served as the director of operations for the University of Nebraska women’s basketball program.

During his four years at Concordia, Parker’s teams led the NAIA in team GPA three consecutive seasons with a 3.73 and twice led all collegiate levels, according to the WBCA.

Parker is also a Christian motivational speaker, speaking at national youth gatherings, faith-based businesses, school assemblies, church events and banquets and Fellowship of Christian Athletes groups. He also served as an assistant professor during his time at Concordia.

Parker earned his master’s in education from the University of Nebraska in 1994 and then later earned his doctorate of philosophy with an emphasis in educational leadership from Nebraska in 1999. Parker and his wife, Amy, have three children.
