Lane Pace begins his seventh season as head men's and women's golf coach at California Baptist University.

He came to CBU in the spring of 2006 in time to coach the Lancers' lone qualifier, Jaymee Braun, at the 2006 NAIA National Championships. His first full season as the men's and women's coach was 2006-07, when he started the men's program from scratch.

On the women's side, Pace and the Lancers have never missed a national tournament, and from 2009-11, Pace led the women's team to three straight top five finishes at the NAIA National Tournaments. He has coached three NAIA All-Americans, and his team garnered NAIA Scholar Team honors all three years.

This past season, as CBU transitions to NCAA Division II, the Lancer women competed at the National Christian College Athletic Association championship, finishing second behind Dallas Baptist. The Lancer men, on the other hand, came away victorious in the NCCAA tournament, winning their first ever national title. The CBU men also competed in their first ever conference tournament, finishing fourth at the PacWest Championship, with Steven Watson taking the individual title.

In 2011, Pace led CBU to its first ever NAIA Women's Golf National Championship, guiding a program that was ranked in the top three all season to the title. CBU won the championship in historic fashion, defeating Embry-Riddle in the first ever one-hole playoff in NAIA history. The Lancers won five of the nine tournaments they competed in last year, including a run of three straight wins in the middle of the season and then tournament titles at the NAIA Qualifying Tournament and the National Championship.

Meanwhile, the CBU men had three top five finishes including a fourth place showing at the NAIA Qualifying Tournament.

In 2010, Pace led the Lancer women to a third place finish at the NAIA National Tournament after being ranked inside the top four all season. The Lancers finished in the top five in 11 of their 12 events, winning eight of them. Sophomore Malin Thorberg earned her second straight NAIA All-American honor after finishing third at the national tournament. Sophomore Adriana Niclotti also earned NAIA All-American honors after finishing ninth. Pace also received the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship Character Act Award for displaying exemplary character at the tournament.

In 2008, Pace led the women’s team to an eighth place finish at the national tournament, just 10 strokes away from a top five placing. The Lancers  won three tournaments and finished in the top five in nine of the 12 tournaments entered. They were ranked as high as No. 6 in the NAIA and finished the season ranked No. 7. Thorberg became the program’s first-ever NAIA All-American, earning first team honors. Caroline Holmblad and Niclotti both earned all-region honors.

Although they didn’t qualify for the national tournament, the Lancer men earned three top five finishes.

In his first season in 2007, Pace guided both teams to their first-ever NAIA Tournament appearances. The Lancer men, which finished the season ranked No. 19 in the NAIA, roared to a 14th place finish at the 2007 NAIA National Tournament at the Indiana National Golf Club, finishing ahead of NAIA Region II champion Cal State San Marcos. One week prior, the CBU women, which finished the season ranked No. 14 in the NAIA, battled through numerous injuries to finish 20th at the NAIA National Tournament at the Lake San Marcos Country Club.

Pace spent three years as the head women’s coach at Longwood University in Farmville, Va., helping the program transition from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I. While there, he led the program to one NCAA postseason tournament appearance and three regular season tournament titles. In his first season at the helm, Pace led the Lancers to the 2003 NCAA Division II East Regional Championship as well as eight top five finishes in 12 matches.

Prior to his time at Longwood, Pace had been an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s golf programs at NCAA Division I Jacksonville, Fla., from June 2001-January 2003.

Pace worked as the golf professional/general manager at the Eufaula Country Club in Eufaula, Ala., from 2000-01; was general manager/head professional at the Douglas Golf & Country Club in Douglas, Ga., from 1999-2000; was head professional at the St. Andrews Golf and Country Club in Winston, Ga., from 1997-99; and was the head professional at the Westchester Golf & Country Club in Dallas, Ga., from 1994-97.

Pace, a PGA Class “A” Golf Professional, won the 2000 Georgia PGA Eastern Chapter Pro-Assistant Championship, and also won both the 1990 and 1993 North Florida PGA Assistants Championship.

He played collegiately at Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C., before transferring to the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. He completed his bachelor’s of science in business at Florida Metropolitan University in Jacksonville, Fla., in 2002, graduating with honors.
