RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- California Baptist University scored a convincing PacWest sweep of Chaminade Monday evening, winning 8-0 and 11-1 in a pair of five-inning games.

The Lancers posted 20 hits in the doubleheader to move to 27-5 overall, 12-4 in the PacWest.

CBU got a pair of homers from Kendall Gorham in the late game and had six long balls overall in the victories.

"It was great to see everybody come out and swing the bats the way they did, especially after not hitting the ball very well last time out," said Head Coach Bill Baber. "That's what we were looking for. We talked on Saturday about just worrying about our games and not thinking about what might be going on in another state. I think that freed the girls up a little bit."

Tina Galinato got the offensive ball rolling Monday, continuing her hot hitting with her third home run of the season in the opening inning of the early game.

The Lancers were up 2-0 after Galinato's shot to left-center and came out of the first inning with a 3-0 lead. CBU scored in each of the first three innings to hold an 8-0 lead.

Emma Holden allowed just one hit in the game, making the 8-0 stand up through five innings. She struck out nine batters, a rate of nearly two per inning. Holden is now13-3.

Sloan McHann also homered in the early game, hitting a solo-shot to deep centerfield in the second.

The Late game was the Kendall Gorham show as the senior outfielder hit a pair of bombs and drove in six of the Lancers' 11 runs.

CBU again jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, getting an RBI triple from Galinato and then a two-run home run from Gorham. Gorham's three-run homer in the second inning was her team-leading sixth of the season.

"It was great to see Kendall's smile back," said Baber. "She has had her ups and downs, but when she's on, like she was today, she's as good as anybody in the country."

Marshean August and Kailey Willingham also went deep in the contest. Willingham went 5-for-5 on the day, hitting a double and homer in the nightcap.

Tory Ferreira put up another brilliant outing, improving her PacWest-best ERA to 1.27 with five innings of three hit ball. The one run scored by the Silverswords was unearned. Ferreira is now 13-2 on the season.

As a team the Lancers went 20-for-47 (.426) at the plate in the doubleheader, slugging .915 with 10 extra-base hits.

The two losses drop Chaminade to 6-14, 5-9. The Lancers and Silverswords will be back in action tomorrow at 5 p.m.
