LA MIRADA, Calif. --- After two days of competition at the PCSC Championships, both California Baptist University's men's and women's team stand in second place, behind No.1 Division II UC San Diego.

With 502 total points, CBU's men team has a 105-point cushion over Fresno Pacific, who is currently in third place. The women hold second place with 547.5 points, also ahead of FPU.

During day one, CBU finished third in both women's relay races. In the 200 medley relay, the team of Mary Hanson, Gina Rhue, Hazel Castillo and Hannah Braun finished just over a tenth of a second behind the second place team from University of Alaska-Fairbanks, with a final time of 1:46.23. Along with Hanson and Braun, Norra Stroh and Adriana Quezada finished third in the 800 yard freestyle relay with a 7:38.66 finish.

CBU also finished second in both the men's 200 yard medley and 800 yard freestyle relays. Robert Nichols, Jeff Babcock, Chris Toy and Tai Nuntapramote finished at 1:33.33 in the 200, less than two tenths of a second ahead of the relay team from Fresno Pacific. Patrick Cardillo joined Toy, Nichols and Nuntapramote for second in the 800, finishing with a time of 6:46.32.

Diver Jamie Flynn won the women's 3M diving finals, tallying 275 points, good enough to set the new university record. She also placed first on the 1M board on Thursday, with a final score of 252.40 points. Trevor Graifman also won the men's 1M, recording 366.15 total points.

During day two, Adriana Quezada finished second in the women's 500 yard freestyle with a final time of 4:58.67. Hannah Braun and Kyndal Terwilliger finished seventh and eight, with respective times of 5:05.61 and 5:05.73.

In the 50 yard freestyle, Hanson finished in 23.50 seconds. Her flat 23:00 seconds time from last year still stands as the meet record.

Norra Stroh finished sixth in the women's IM finals at 2:07.49.

On day two, CBU placed third through sixth in the men's 500 yard freestyle. Derek Wedel led the pack with a final time of 4:38.29. Closely trailing, Mitchell Spezzaferri finished at 4:40.65, Nuntapramote at 4:40.67 and Austin Aberle at 4:41.63.

Chris Toy finished fourth in the 50 freestyle, with a final time of 21.09 seconds.

In the 200 yard IM, Brian Haney and Cardillo finished fourth and fifth with times of 1:52.25 and 1:53.09, respectively.

The relay team of Cardillo, Jeremy Hayes, Kiakahi Matsumoto and Scott Butler finished fourth in the 200 freestyle, with a time of 1:24.36.

The PCSC championships continue until Saturday.
