RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Kyle Matthews got a match-clinching pin at 184, Zach Merrill got a pin at 285, and California Baptist University scored four major decisions to power its way to a 31-13 win over the NAIA's No. 19-ranked Embry-Riddle Saturday night in the Van Dyne Gym.

The Lancers have now won six of their past eight duals and improve to 8-4. The Eagles fall to 5-12 in dual matches.

CBU honored its seven seniors before the match and then roared out of the gate winning five of the first six matches to open an insurmountable 19-3 lead.

Alex Anunciation (133) got a major decision, and after an Embry-Riddle decision at 141, Landon Saldana (149), Bronson Gerl (157) and Preston Brown (165) recorded three straight majors.

"It was an overall good performance," said CBU Head Coach Lennie Zalesky. "Landon was great in his first match, and Kyle had a big win."

Jose Cruz got Embry-Riddle within 19-9 with a pin of C.J. Knowland at 174, but Matthews responded with a pin of his own over Jonathan Castellow to give CBU a 25-9 lead, clinching the win for the Lancers It was his first pin of the season.

Merrill put the icing on the cake with a pin, his 10th of the season, of Garett Foster in just 1:53.

Jimmy Martinez, now 27-4, got the ball rolling and ran his winning streak to 14 straight with a 5-2 win over NAIA No. 5-ranked Sean Silva at 125.

"Jimmy's been doing that all year for us," said Zalesky. "It's so nice having him at the top of our lineup. He has some big wins this year against ranked teams, and two of his losses were to ranked Division I opponents. He set the tone for the night."

Anunciation opened an 11-3 heading into the third period and grabbed a 7-0 lead for the Lancers with a 14-5 major decision.

In his first match of the season, Saldana jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the second period. He then got a takedown in the third and had more than four minutes of riding time for an 8-0 major victory over Jesse Routsong.

Brown's takedown with 31 seconds left gave him a 9-2 lead over Trent Gardner at 165. His 4:29 riding time advantage gave him a 10-2 major decision and a 19-3 CBU advantage.

Gerl led 2-0 heading into the third when he blitzed Frank Rodriguez with an onslaught of takedowns, outscoring Rodriguez 9-2 in the period for an 11-2 major.
