Marc Machado joined California Baptist University as the men's and women's assistant golf coach in the 2011-12 season. He assisted in the Lancers' transition from the NAIA to the NCAA, as well, as they became fully-fledged Division II members in the NCAA in 2013-14, with both teams immediately qualifying for the postseason. Machado is now entering his fourthseason with California Baptist University.
Prior to coming to CBU, Machado spent a year as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor for the Carolyn E Wylie Center serving the community and youth. He also spent a year as an Autism Behavioral Therapist for the Carolyn E Wylie Center.
Machado earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2009, and received his Master's of Science Degree in Professional Counseling: Marriage and Family Therapy from California Baptist University in 2011. While at California Baptist University, he was awarded the 4.0 Grade-Point Average Merit Award for Academic Excellence in the Counseling Psychology Master’s Program.
Machado played four years at Point Loma Nazarene University under NAIA Hall of Fame Coach Ben Foster. Machado was a two-time Sportsmanship Award winner (2008, 2009) and led the Sea Lions to the NAIA National Championships in 2007, 2008 and 2009. In 2009, Machado was named to the Ping-NAIA West All-Region Team.
In his sophomore year (2007), Machado placed fifthin the Grand Canyon University Spring Invitational where he recorded scores of 70, 72, 69 for a five-under-par 211 total. In 2008, Machado, placed sixth at the Carlton Oaks Invitational and ninth at the NAIA Regional II Championships. In Machado’s senior year (2009), he finished second at the NAIA Regionals and GSAC/CCC National Qualifier with scores of 74, 75, and 72. His runner-up finish helped Point Loma qualify for the NAIA National Championship for a fourth straight year.
Throughout his collegiate playing career, Machado played on the Golden State Tour as an Amateur. His low score is a six-under 66 at the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.
Machado also coached his brother, Micah, on the CBU men's golf team through his sophomore to senior seasons. Machado married his wife, Reba, on October 1, 2011. Reba is entering her third year as an adjunct professor at CBU. She is also a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Riverside, CA.
