ST. PETERS, Mo. --- At the conclusion of the 2010 NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships, California Baptist University's men and women both earned runner-up finishes in the meet. After a wild chase for a fifth national title in a row, the Lancer men tallied 488.50 total points, behind Fresno Pacific (659.50), which won the national title. The Lancer women also took second place overall with 472 total points, behind defending national champion Savannah College of Art and Design, which posted 540.

After all the points had been tallied, two Lancer men stood out among the rest of the field and earned the ultimate awards to cap their impressive sophomore campaigns. Trevor Graifman won Male Diver of the Meet. Graifman took first place on the 3-meter board and third place on the 1-meter board.

"I was surprised after the bad experience on the 1-meter board," said Graifman. "I feel like I finished off the season strong."

The other half of the sophomore duo, Kevin Sellars was named Male Swimmer of the Meet. Sellars set three NAIA records during the meet, in the 200 individual medley, the 400 individual medley and as a member of the 800 free relay.

"Kevin and Trevor are both sophomores; a dynamic duo," said diving coach Jeff Couto. "They are a strong core and if we add a big recruiting class, we can make a run at the title again next year."

On day four, Sellars swam to a second place finish in the 1650 with a 15:55.48-mark, and Vicente Andrade took second (1:47.78) in the 200 back. Ronan Garrec also posted a second place finish (1:49.95) in the 200 fly, while Daniel Heihn finished in fourth (1:52.20) in the event. Senior Alan Ogden finished fifth (45.61) in the 100 free.

For the women, Lara Pease won the 200 back with a time of 2:05.02. Stefanie Olson swam to a second place finish (17.35.88) in the 1650 free, while Adriana Quezada took second (2:03.67) and Hazel Castillo took third (2:05.27) in the 200 fly.

Overall, the CBU men recorded 19 All-American finishes, including seven national champions, while the women tallied 21 All-American finishes, and one national champion. The Lancers also set three new NAIA records and two new school records over the course of the meet.

"It was a tough meet; it just gets faster and faster. FPU and SCAD both have lots of returners next year, just like us," said head coach Rick Rowland. "You can't ask for more than personal bests, season-highs and breaking school and national records. We left it in the pool."
