LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- California Baptist University fell in a double-dual on Saturday, to Loyola Marymount who defeated the Lancer women 166-122. The CBU women also fell to the women of Cal State Bakersfield 172-119, while the Lancer men also fell to Cal State Bakersfield 170-119.
Hannah Braun led the charge for CBU racking up three finishes in the top-2 in the races in which she competed. Braun led the 200 medley relay team, Stephanie Jung, Gina Rhue, and Megan Leckey to a first place finish. Braun also won the 200 back and then took the second slot in the 100 back. Jung had a solid meet, as well, swimming to a third place finish in the 100 breast and then taking fourth place as the anchor leg of the 400 free relay. Jung finished in sixth place in the 100 free event. Adriana Quezada grabbed a first-place finish for the Lancers in the 500 and 1000 free events, and a second-place finish in the 200 fly. Veronica Espino took fourth in the 1000 free, and Rhue finished in second place in the 100 breast. On the men's side, Kevin Sellars took the top slot in the 1000 free for CBU. Senior Alan Ogden took second place in the 100, 200, and 500 free events. Junior Vicente Andrade won the 100 and 200 back events for the Lancers, and then led Matthew Chong, Brian Jack, and Joey Elerding to a fourth place finish in the 200 medley relay. Sellars, Jorge Andrade, and Chong, finished in second, third, and fourth places in the 200 individual medley. Elerding, Garret Benninger, and Spencer Knight took second, third and fourth places in the 100 fly. The Lancers will be back in the pool for the first home meet of 2010 on Jan. 8 for the Claremont Mudd Scripps Distance Meet. The event will take place at the Lancer Aquatics Center at 2:30 p.m. |
