KANSAS CITY, Mo. — It’s hard to climb much higher for California Baptist University after going from No. 3 to No. 2 in the latest NAIA Wrestling Coaches Top 25 Poll released Tuesday. For the third straight poll the Lancers break another record for highest ranking in school history. CBU started the season at No. 7. Now the eyes are set on that coveted No. 1 position.
Notre Dame (Ohio) holds that position with a 101 total team points. CBU is just behind with 85.5 points. Missouri Valley, Great Falls (Mont.) and Southern Oregon round out the top five. Great Falls and Southern Oregon are both in the West Group with the Lancers. Enock Francois remains No. 1 at 174-pounds while Benny Garcia climbed from No. 8 to No. 6 at 149. Ian Millan (141) moved up a spot from No. 6 to No. 5. Chauncey Philipps stayed put at No. 5 at 125 while Lamar Reed (165), No. 4, and Josh Marquez (285), No. 2 each dropped a spot. Johnny Rojas (133) went from No. 6 to No. 8 and C.J. Knowland (174) went from No. 5 to No. 9. The next rankings will be released Dec. 22. |
