RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- California Baptist University has four athletes in this week’s The Press Enterprise Performer of the Week poll.
Marc Hope and Kylee Nicassio have been nominated from the men’s and women’s soccer programs, along with Ingrid Carmona for women’s volleyball and Aaron Steiger for men’s water polo.
Hope and Nicassio each led their respective teams to wins over Westmont in the Lancers’ conference openers. Hope scored his first collegiate goal to help bring CBU back from a 1-0 deficit to win 2-1 over the Warriors, and Nicassio had a goal and an assist in the women’s 2-0 victory. Nicassio looks to make it two in a row after winning the honor last week.
Carmona racked up 39 kills, 5.57 a set, as well as 20 digs and three aces in two matches last week for CBU. Carmona leads the Lancers with 4.15 kills per set this season.
Steiger led the Lancers to a 4-1 victory last week, scoring 21 goals. He had two six-goal games on the week and scored a pair against No. 1 USC in the Lancers’ only loss of the week.
Each Tuesday fans and readers of The Press-Enterprise have an opportunity to vote for their favorite Performer of the Week. CBU currently leads the school standings with 25 points (7 nominations; 2 winners), one ahead of Riverside Community College. CBU’s Sergio Rodriguez received the honor two weeks ago.
