The Lancers blew open the early game with a pair of four run innings after having over 10 days off due to cancellations. CBU made a near miraculous comeback in the late game, tying it up in the final frame only to fall in eight innings.
Mara Rodriguez opened the day with a solo-shot, putting the Lancers up 1-0 in the first inning.
While Emma Holden held the Argonauts scoreless for the first three frames, Tina Galinato helped punctuate a four run third with a three-run homer, her first of the season.
The Lancers pounded Argonaut pitcher Sammy McConvey for 12 hits in the game. McConvey took the loss, giving up six earned runs in the game.
CBU would add four more runs in the seventh, putting the game well out of reach for an NDNU comeback.
Holden went the distance, throwing a complete game three-hitter to move to 10-2 on the season. She allowed one earned run, striking out 12 batters and giving up just four walks.
The two teams were knotted at 0-0 in the late game, until the Argonauts broke through with three runs in the fifth.
Batting second in the second game of the doubleheader, the Lancers evened the contest at 3-3, scoring runs on an error and two-RBI hit by Marshean August to force extra innings.
The relief was short-lived, however, as a costly error allowed two runs in the top of the eighth and this time the Lancers had no answer, falling 5-3.
Tory Ferreira took the loss despite not giving up a single earned run.
The split moves CBU to 19-4 overall, 5-3 PacWest. NDNU goes to 14-12, 4-7.
