GULF SHORES, Ala. --- Top-ranked California Baptist University looks for a second NAIA National Championship in three years, opening play at the Gulf Shores Sports Complex Thursday at 12 p.m.
The Lancers take on SUNY Canton (N.Y.) in the opening game of play in Pool A. CBU faces Friends (Kan.) at 8:30 a.m., May 20 and then wrap up pool play against MidAmerica Nazarene, playing the Pioneers May 21 at 4 p.m.
CBU finished the regular-season 59-3, winning both the GSAC regular-season and tournament titles. The Lancers are making their eighth-straight tournament appearance, winning their only title in 2009. It will be the final year the Lancers play in the NAIA Championship as the program will transition to NCAA Division II next season.
