RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Emma Holden polished a brilliant regular-season in a most fitting way last week, earning both a win and a save in a doubleheader sweep of No. 5 Concordia.
The superb performance earned the Lancers’ junior ace the final GSAC player of the week honors, just hours after being named the conference’s Pitcher of the Year.
Moving her conference best record to 28-1 in the opener against the Eagles, Holden threw her eighth complete game shutout of the season. She threw seven full innings, striking out 10, while giving up just three hits and two walks.
As the nightcap moved to extra innings, Head Coach Mike Smith called on Holden once again, inserting her in the eight inning to close out a 7-5 victory in the Lancers’ regular-season finale. She threw a flawless eighth, recording two strikeouts and inducing a groundout to seal CBU’s 55th win of the year.
Holden finishes the regular-season with 0.70 ERA and a program record 263 strikeouts. It is her third Pitcher of the Week award this season and fifth of her career.
