RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- California Baptist University's Kylee Nicassio and Nicoline Jorgensen were named Golden State Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, Monday afternoon.
The duo spearheaded both of the sixth-ranked Lancers' wins at the KELME Classic hosted by Lindsey Wilson this past weekend. The Lancers defeated No. 7 Martin Methodist (Tenn.), 2-1, in the opening game Friday and then defeated the host Lindsey Wilson, 1-0, Saturday night. They were the only team to win both of their games at the tournament that also featured No. 1-ranked Concordia (Ore.).
Nicassio scored both goals in the win over Martin Methodist, her fourth and fifth goals of the season.
Jorgensen then made six saves in posting the Lancers' third shutout of the season against the Blue Raiders.
Nicassio and Jorgensen are the second and third Lancers this year to earn the conferences' top weekly honors. Two weeks ago, CBU's Fabiola Zanella da Silva was named GSAC Offensive Player of the Week.
CBU, now 6-1 on the season, hosts Westmont in both team's GSAC opener Saturday at 1 p.m.
