FRESNO, Calif. --- In the midst of its best stretch of the season, California Baptist University had four players reach double figures, shot 44 percent from the 3-point line and jumped out to a 24-point second half lead to key a big road win, 68-59, at Fresno Pacific Saturday evening.
The win is the Lancers' third in their past four games as they improve to 10-9 overall, 4-6 GSAC. It is their fifth win in the last seven trips to Fresno.
The Sunbirds drop to 12-7, 5-5.
Justus Von Wright led all players with 15 points, hitting three 3-pointers. He also had four steals. Luke Evans and Jerome Lowe each had 12 points. Lowe finished with five assists and six rebounds and hit all three of his treys. As a team, the Lancers had 18 assists on their 25 field goals.
Brannon Bradley finished with 11 points and a game high nine rebounds.
The Lancers scored 15 of the game's first 20 points before the Sunbirds rattled off a 14-0 spurt to take what would turn out to be their largest and final lead of the game, 19-15, with 7:20 left in the half. The Lancers proceeded on a 37-9 flurry that spanned over nearly 16 minutes of both halves. The Sunbirds were just 4-for-21 from the floor and committed seven of their 16 turnovers.
The Sunbirds held the Lancers without a field goal over the final 4:23 but could get no closer than eight points the rest of the way.
CBU finished the game 25-for-50 from the floor, an even 50 percent
and were 4-for-7 from beyond the arc in the second half as it sprinted out to a
52-28 lead on a Von Wright trey with 11:20 to play. The Sunbirds were just 40
percent (22-for-55) and made just 5-of-23 from beyond the arc.
Aleksander Milovic came off the bench and chipped in with seven points.
