RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- California Baptist University took on old GSAC rival Concordia University in a non-conference game Thursday afternoon.
The Eagles beat the Lancers 11-9. CBU is now 29-7 overall. The Eagles improve to 25-11 overall.
The Eagles got off to a great start in the first inning after Aaron Gates hit a deep homerun to center field scoring Kyle Konicek. The Lancers took the lead from the Eagles in the bottom of the fourth recording four runs and hits, but in the top of the seventh the Eagles would fire off four hits and bring in six runs, which gave them the lead for the remainder of the game.
Andy Crowley was 4 for 5 with a double and two runs. Matt Marnati was 3 for 5 with his third homer of the season, a two run shot in the seventh to bring the Lancers within two at 11-9.
Kevin Odom was 2 for 3 with a double, two runs, and one RBI. Cole Bullard was 2 for 5 with two runs.
Patrick Smith got the start and went five innings, allowing seven hits and five earned runs. The Lancers' pitchers threw eight wild pitches on the day.
The Lancers left 12 runners on base, while the Eagles left 10.
The Lancers will take on the Eagles again tomorrow April 6 at 1 p.m.
