RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- California Baptist University pounded a season-high 28 hits and scored a season-high 24 runs in an offensive onslaught and a 24-2 thumping of Hawaii-Hilo in the finale of a four-game Pacific West Conference series Thursday afternoon.

The victory completes a four-game series sweep for the Lancers, their fourth of the conference season. It is their eighth straight win and 17th in the past 19 games as they improve to 29-6 overall, 24-4 PacWest.

The Vulcans fall to 6-27, 3-21.

CBU actually trailed 1-0 when the Vulcans used a hit-by-pitch, a walk and two singles to strike first against Devyn Rivera (3-0). But that was it.

In the bottom of the first, the Lancers sent nine batters to the plate before there was an out and eventually scored nine runs to open a 9-1 lead. They eventually scored in all but one inning and got three hits from five different players.

Matt Marnati was 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs. Matt Daugherty was 3-for-4 with three runs and his third homer of the season, a solo shot in the second that made it 10-1.

Blair Moore was 3-for-5 with two runs, and Andy Crowley was 3-for-4 to improve his season average to .398. Ryan Douglass was 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs. Cole Bullard and Kevin Odom both had two hits apiece.

Steven Pena and Gunnar Vanden Bosche each had two hits apiece off the bench. Pena had a double and a triple, driving in a pair of runs.

The Lancers went through five Vulcan hurlers, and starter Dane Kinoshita was tagged for seven hits and nine earned runs and couldn't get an out in the first. The Lancers sent 12 batters to the plate in the first, nine in the eighth and eight in the fifth, and 23 of the 24 runs were earned.

Rivera went five innings, allowing four hits and the one earned run. He struck out seven and picked up his first win since Feb. 25 vs. Dixie State.

In all, the Lancers had nine extra base hits, including seven doubles, a triple and a homer.
