Daugherty had a monster week, leading the conference-leading Lancers to a 3-1 series win at Grand Canyon this past weekend. The Lancers' first-baseman hit .571 (8-for-14) with two doubles and six RBIs. He had at least one hit in all four games, including a pair of three-hit games.
In addition to his offensive exploits, Daugherty also racked up a pair of saves, finishing off both wins of Friday's doubleheader. He recorded the final out of each game, including a strikeout looking of Derek Mendoza, the leading hitter in the conference, after falling behind 3-0 with the bases loaded in game two to complete the sweep.
He then had three hits and three RBIs in the final game of the series, a 6-3 Lancer victory.
Daugherty is the eighth Lancer to earn PacWest Player or Pitcher of the Week honors this year.
The Lancers resume conference play this weekend with a four-game series at Dixie State. The Lancers currently lead Dixie State, which plays a doubleheader at Hawaii-Hilo tonight, by six games. After Dixie State plays at Hilo tonight, both teams will have eight games remaining, and the Lancers could clinch the conference title with a pair of wins this weekend.
