KANSAS CITY, Kansas --- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released its latest regional rankings Tuesday, and California Baptist University has climbed back into the Top 10, checking in at No. 9.
Fresh off three straight wins in Hawaii last week, including a 2-0 win over then No. 10 Hawaii Pacific last Monday, the Lancers moved back into the west region ranking for the first time since the fourth poll of the season on Sept. 27 when they were No. 8 after wins over Notre Dame de Namur and Dominican.
So far, the Lancers have played No. 2 Seattle Pacific and No. 4 Cal State Dominguez Hills, and they host No. 5 Grand Canyon Thursday at 3 p.m. in a showdown with Pacific West Conference title implications. The Lancers currently lead the conference with 24 points, two points ahead of Grand Canyon, which has spent much of the season ranked in the NCAA Division II Top 25.
This is the first of two consecutive games against CBU and Grand Canyon. Both teams also play Dixie State once. Dixie State is third in the PacWest with 21 points and still in the hunt for the conference title.
CBU is currently in its second year of candidacy in the NCAA Division II membership process and is not currently eligible for national championships, but can be ranked regionally.
