RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- All season long California Baptist University has had unprecedented success on the field. It's doing it in the classroom as well.

Just two days after being named All-GSAC for their performances on the field, junior Osvaldo Bastida and sophomore Tyler Aagard were named to the 2010 CoSIDA ESPN Academic All-District 8 Men's Soccer Team Wednesday.

Generally, three Academic All-District teams are chosen in each district. There were only two in District 8. Bastida and Aagard were named to the second team. Nominations and voting for the All-America programs are conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). There is a University Division (Division I programs) and a College Division (DII, DIII, NAIA, NJCAA programs).

Bastida, who is in the midst of a career season on the field with career-best totals of seven goals, eight assists and 22 points, is also carrying a 3.40 GPA in psychology. Aagard, who earned All-GSAC honors as the Lancers' starting left back, is a 3.71 student studying accounting.

Eight of the 22 first and second team selections were from NAIA institutions.
