RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Nathalie Silva was named the NAIA’s female golfer of the week Wednesday, after taking top honors at the NAIA National Qualifying tournament last week.
Silva fired a 226 (78-74-74) to take top-honors at the Unaffiliated Group Tournament comprised of teams from the California Pacific Conference, Cascade Collegiate Conference and Golden State Athletic Conference.
A sophomore hailing from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Silva won the event for the second year in-a-row, doing so among a field of 34 golfers at the Diamond Woods Golf Course in Monroe, Ore., April 11 - 12. Her efforts guided CBU to the team title, totaling 944 (317-316-311).
The tournament win earned the Lancers an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship, which Silva also won last year. It was the Lancers’ fourth tournament victory of the season.
This is the first such award for a CBU golfer, as the awards are in their inaugural year in the NAIA.
