RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. --- California Baptist University finished off a wire-to-wire victory at the CMS Invitaional Tuesday, beating the field by 54 strokes.

Adriana Niclotti got her second straight win finishing at 148 (72-76). Teammate Nathalie Silva was not far behind, shooting 150 (74-76) to finish second.

CBU shot a final round 313 to finish at 617. Host Claremont took second at 671 (337-334) and Redlands was just a stroke behind shooting 672 (337-335). UC Santa Cruz rounded out the field at 674 (340-334).

“I’m always pleased when we can get a win,” said Head Coach Lane Pace. “Less than ideal conditions and a lack of anyone making a run at us contributed to our final round being a little higher than I would like, but we can work on that.”

Samantha Katz (81-81) and Kirsten Keyser (82-80) each shot 162, and Louise Palm shot 163 (77-86). Keyser was the only Lancer to lower her score in the final round.

The win wraps up the fall season for CBU as the team will resume play in the spring season beginning at the UCR Invitational, Feb. 28-March 1.

“I feel very confident with this team as we head forward,” said Pace. “As long as we keep working we can definitely compete with anyone in the country.”
