FRESNO, Calif. --- California Baptist University extended its winning streak to five with a 23-8 scoring margin in two matches on Saturday.  The Lancers (9-5) defeated Fresno Pacific 10-6 in game one, before pouring it on Sonoma State with a 13-2 win. 

Petra Kovacs, who scored five goals in Friday’s win over Grove City, had a hat trick in each match, while goalie Camryn Rogers combined for 17 saves on the day.  Nine CBU players scored, and five had three or more goals.

In game one the Lancers defeated Fresno Pacific (2-6) for the eighth straight time.  Kylie Chevalier scored twice and added four assists to her school record.  Mallory Montano drew four ejections and found the back of the net, while Rogers posted six saves.  Rachel Esau notched her second score of the year, while Alyssa Birch added one goal and one assist.

Game two was a rematch of CBU’s second game of the season; the team defeated Sonoma State 11-5 at the Berkeley Invite on Jan. 22.  Today the Lancers had little trouble putting the Seawolves (4-14) away.  Christina Webb, who posted a hat trick in the first meeting, scored twice. 

Chevalier dished out another four assists and added a goal.  Molly Gritchen had four steals and two goals, while Birch stole the ball three times and scored once. Rogers tallied 11 saves and two assists, while holding Sonoma State scoreless in the second half.  CBU will test its five game win streak against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Wednesday at the Lancer Aquatic Center.
