IRVINE, Calif. --- The No. 16 California Baptist men’s water polo team furthered their case as the nation’s top NAIA program with a 12-9 road win against Concordia.

The Lancers (26-5) went 1-2 against their GSAC rival last season, however showed little heading into the match.

Concordia (11-11) has been ranked as high No. 12 nationally but has floundered as of late.  The Eagles lost 6-8 to unranked Pomona Pitzer on Oct. 23.

CBU has now won two straight after dropping a pair last Saturday in Santa Clara.

Aaron Steiger scored four goals, while Brent Troutman and Scott Gleason each added two.

Alan Ogden, Keith Jizemijan, Jeremy Atkinson, and Chris Toy (three assists) all scored one goal in the match.

Austen Ramer had another big night, blocking six shots while notching four steals and four assists.

The Lancers will host La Verne and Whittier College on Saturday at the Lancer Aquatics Center.  Whittier College upset Concordia earlier this year.
