RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- California Baptist University's Aaron Steiger scored six goals, scoring at least one in each quarter, to lead the 16th-ranked Lancers to their 10th straight win with a 14-7 victory over Fresno Pacific Thursday night at the Lancer Aquatic Center.
CBU improves to 10-1, having won 10 in a row since dropping a narrow 10-9 decision to then No. 5 UC Irvine in the season opener. Fresno Pacific falls to 1-8. It is the Lancers' third win this year against the Sunbirds.
The Lancers scored the first eight goals of the game before the Sunbirds finally got on the board with a five-meter penalty shot by Raymond Eggert with 4:14 left in the third quarter. FPU got within 9-4 before the Lancers rattled off four straight goals, three of which came in a 1:17 span in the fourth.
Steiger, who leads the nation with 3.2 goals per game, scored three of his goals in the third quarter to push the Lancer lead from their 5-0 halftime advantage to an 8-0 margin.
Austen Ramer nabbed six saves.
The Lancers will now host their annual Lancer Invitational Friday and Saturday, starting things off with top-ranked USC Friday at Noon.
