Nothing's changing in 2012.
Rowland, who has led the Lancers to 12 winning seasons and 10 20-win campaigns, released the Lancers' upcoming fall schedule Thursday.
Once again the Lancers' schedule is packed with heavy hitters and some of the top NCAA teams in the country with no less than eight games against teams ranked in the NCAA Top 20 a season ago.
"This is a very tough and diverse schedule," said Rowland, the architect of the CBU aquatics program. "We're not afraid of playing anyone, because we know that when you play the best, it's going to make you a better team."
It all begins Sept. 1 when the Lancers travel to Westwood to participate in the UCLA Invitational for the first time. The Bruins, who the Lancers will play in addition to UC Santa Barbara, were the 2011 national runners-up. With no rest for the weary, the Lancers travel back to Los Angeles the next Saturday (Sept. 8) to take on four-time defending national champion USC.
"UCLA was very gracious to let us in their tournament and as a result, we're not going to get a much tougher test than our first three games," said Rowland. "It's a challenge and a high marker, but later in the season we'll be better for it."
The Lancers will also participate in the Posada Royale Tournament hosted by Cal Lutheran (Sept. 15), the UC Davis Tournament (Sept. 21-22), Claremont Convergence (Oct. 5-6), Santa Clara Rodeo Tournament (Oct. 19-20) and the Air Force Academy Tournament (Oct. 26-27).
In addition to those, the Lancers host the Lancer Invite (Sept. 28-29) and the CWPA National Invite (Nov. 9-10). CBU also has home matches against Iona and Fordham (both on Oct. 4) and Loyola Marymount (Nov. 9).
The Lancers finished 24-9 last year, which was their sixth consecutive 20-win season. They finished all of those years ranked in the NCAA Top 20 as well.
