RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Scott Gleason and Chris Toy have been selected as NCAA Div. II First-Team All-Americans, the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced Monday.
In California Baptist University's first year competing as a NCAA Div. II institution, Gleason and Toy were two of the only three spots represented not from power UC San Diego.
Picked at the utility spot, Gleason finished his junior season with a team-high 73 goals, adding 15 assists and 17 steals also to his season total. His career totals now stand at 112 goals, 38 steals and 32 assists.
Toy finished his career at CBU with a 55-goals senior season. He also led the team in steals with 25 and tied for first in assists with 19. In four years, Toy scored 209 goals, good for a tie for second on CBU's all-time scoring list. His 121 career steals puts him at seventh all-time and his 100 career assists places him in a three-way tie for sixth.
In 2010, Aaron Steiger became CBU's first ever First Team All-American. In another historic year, Toy and Gleason are the Lancer's first ever pair of All-American selections in a single season.
Denny Harper and David Morton from UC San Diego were selected as coach and player of the year, respectively. Three another Tritons were first-team selections, along with one player from Mercyhurst.
The Lancers finished 2011 with a record of 24-9.
