COSTA MESA, Calif., --- California Baptist University's men's and women's cross country teams competed Saturday at the 22nd Annual Vanguard Invite hosted at Fairview Park.

The men's 8k race featured 12 teams and 116 runners. The Master's College won the meet with 46 points and a team time of 2:09:14. The Lancers finished second with a team time of 2:11:54 and tallied 60 points. CBU finished ahead of NCAA Division I Loyola Marymount.

"I am very proud of our effort's today," said Interim Head Coach Sean Henning. "As it gets later in the season fatigue sets in and the athletes get busier with school and training. This is the tough part and we just have to push through it."

CBU put three runners in the top 10.

For the third time this season, Mitchell Moore led the way for the Lancers, finishing sixth with a time of 22:55. Trevor Henson finished seventh behind Moore and posted a time of 26:08. Mark Langworthy finished ninth with a time of 26:12.

Javier Madrid ran a 26:25 finishing 12th and Victor Delgado finished 27th posting a 27:05 to complete the scoring for the Lancers.

Wade Meddles of Azusa Pacific won the meet with a 24:53 (course record).

The women's 5k race featured 14 teams and 140 runners. Azusa Pacific won the meet with a team time of 1:31:19 and tallied 36 points, putting four runners in the top 10. The Master's College finished second with 86 points and Loyola Marymount finished third with 97 points.

The Lancers finished sixth posting a team time of 1:35:56, making a mark on the program's record book with the sixth fastest team time in history. CBU put all five runners in the top 50.

For the fifth race, Ashlee Cervantes set the tone for the Lancers finishing 14th with an 18:40. Lynnea Sjoerdsma finished 15th behind Cervantes, posting an 18:44. Bethany Bilton finished 29th with a 19:26.

Alexander Malaysia posted a 19:30 finishing 30th, and Natalia Richeri completed the scoring for the Lancers with a 19:36, finishing 31st.

Lauren Jimison of Azusa Pacific won the meet with a 17:10 (course record).
