SALEM, Ore.-- California Baptist University's men's and women's cross country teams broke several records today at the Charles Bowles Invitational hosted by Willamette University.
Six different Lancers' broke their personal records, two from the men's side (Mitchell Moore, Victor Delgado) and four from the women's (Ashlee Cervantes, Bethany Bilton, Lynnea Sjoerdsma and Malaysia Alexander).
The men's 8k race featured 15 teams and 161 runners. Chico State and NCAA Division I Portland tied with 37 points, but it was Chico State that won the meet with a team time of 2:02:28.67. The Lancers finished third with 117 points and a team time of 2:06:31.82.
CBU put all five runners in the top 50 led by Moore, who finished ninth and posted a 24:34.05, Moore also moved up a spot to fourth on the program's top individual time list. Trevor Henson finished 13th with a 24:49.33 and Delgado finished 37th with a 25:33.14. Sergio Rodriguez posted a 25:36.31 finishing 40th and Javier Madrid finished 43rd with a 25:41.55 to complete the scoring for the Lancers.
Meanwhile, in the women's race, the Lancers finished fifth out of 16 teams, finishing ahead of NCAA Division I San Jose State. There were 175 competitors in the women's field.
The Lancer women put four runners in the top 40.
For the fourth consecutive race, Cervantes led the way for the Lancers, finishing 20th with an 18:24.81, and jumped to third on the top individual list in program history. Bilton posted her fastest time this season with an 18:36.50 finishing 29th. Sjoerdsma finished 35th with an 18:40.20. Sjoerdsma moved up four spots to sixth on the top individual list.
Alexander finished 39th with an 18:45.60 and moved up nine spots to eighth on the top individual list. Naomi Van Setten completed the scoring for the Lancers posting a 19:03.39 to finish 61st.
