PRESCOTT, Ariz. --- CBU rebounded from a loss to the NAIA's No. 8-ranked Montana State-Northern in its first match with wins over New Mexico-Highlands and Menlo, going 2-1 at the Embry-Riddle Duals Friday.

The Lancers are now 7-4 in dual matches.

The Lancers lost to Montana State-Northern 27-16 before defeating New Mexico-Highlands 31-15 and Menlo 33-15.

Wrestling without NCWA National Champion Chris Santana at 157, the Lancers jumped out to 16-3 lead on eighth-ranked Montana State-Northern, but the Lights won the final five matches, three by pin, to squeak out the 27-16 victory.

Jimmy Martinez got a pin at 125, and Alex Anunciation followed with a major decision at 133. Zach Merrill (heavyweight) and Dylan Cataline (141) both got decisions to put the Lancers out in front.

Against New Mexico-Highlands, Merrill and Martinez got back-to-back pins to start things have, and Anunciation came through with another major. Bradford Gerl and Dylan Cataline then both got decisions before Brenton Visnoski picked up his first dual win of the season with a major decision filling in for Santana at 157. Bronson Gerl rounded out the scoring with a tech fall.

In the route of Menlo, the Lancers recorded five pins from Merrill, Martinez, Bradford Gerl, Cataline and David Dill (197). They led 24-3 before cruising in for the win. Bronson Gerl added a decision.

The Lancers will compete in the Embry-Riddle Open Saturday.
