RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University took time out of its busy schedule and quest for the Pacific West Conference Softball Championship to engage the local community.
On April 12, the Lancers hosted a free softball clinic for the Lightning, a team from the Riverside Girls' Softball Association (RGSA) Under-8 Division.
The Lancer players ran players from the Lightning through various fielding, pitching and catching drills, working them out just like a regular CBU practice.
The Lightning then attended the Lancers' doubleheader with BYU-Hawaii April 17, watching the Lancers sweep a doubleheader from the Seasiders.
CBU, which won the PacWest title in its first season in the conference, won the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) West Regional Tuesday night. The Lancers will participate in the NCCAA National Championships May 10-12 in Botetourt County, Va.
