RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Following the conclusion of California Baptist University's second year in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, the Lancers placed four athletes on the all-conference all-academic list. Joel Blocksom, Rocky DeLyon, Kevin Kustura and Kristopher Johnson represented the Lancers as the four scholar athletes, as announced Tuesday.
The 2014 MPSF All-Academic Scholar-Athletes are nominated by their institutions based on the athlete holding a 3.00 or better cumulative grade-point average, being at least a sophomore in academic standing, having completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the 2014 season, and having competed in 50-percent or more matches.
Blocksom, who just finished his sophomore campaign as an outside hitter for the Lancers, held the highest GPA for CBU with a major in political science. DeLyon, a sophomore outside hitter, followed and is majoring in mechanical engineering. Kustura often came into the Lancer rotation as one of the setters or liberos and completed his third year as a kinesiology major. Johnson graduated from CBU with his master's degree in business administration with a concentration in management and made up the Lancer wall as a middle blocker.
