RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- For the second week in a row, California Baptist University's Kelly Jenks was selected as the PacWest Player of the Week . This time, teammate Rosie Nakata joins her with a Defender of the Week accolade.
Jenks played a pivotal role in the Lancers offensive success, scoring four goals and grabbing an assist to tally nine points in CBU's 2-0-0 performance. For both games, Jenks was credited with the game-winning goal, putting her season total to five game winners.
Last week in a 3-0 blanking at Dominican, Jenks scored all three goals for the Lancers, including netting a penalty kick to seal the three-goal victory.
In a 6-0 win at Notre Dame de Namur, Jenks kickstarted the Lancer offense by netting the eventual game winner in the 24th minute. CBU went on to score five more goals, with Jenks assisting the fourth.
Jenks now leads the PacWest with 34 points, 13 goals, eight assists and five game-winning goals.
Defensively, Nakata registered two shutouts in the pair of victories, finishing the week with a perfect 0.00 goals against average. She made six saves to keep her net unscathed and grab a 1.000 save percentage.
Nakata currently leads the conference with a 0.22 goals against average and .929 save percentage on the season. As a team, CBU is tied for first with most amount of shutouts and ranks third with fewest goals conceded.
The Lancers face off against PacWest rival Azusa Pacific on Saturday in Azusa at 1 p.m., before returning home to finish out the regular season with a pair of games against Dixie State.
