As a 2011 freshman, Allard scored 10 goals and assisted on eight others to total 28 points. All three of those numbers ranked in the top five in the conference. As a result, Allard was named PacWest Freshman of the Year and All-PacWest first team, the only rookie in the conference to earn first team honors.
One year removed, the conference is well aware of whom Allard is and as such the PacWest coaches have deemed her the 2012 PacWest Preseason Player of the Year. The conference office announced both the Preseason All-PacWest Women's Soccer Team and the Predicted Order of Finish Thursday afternoon.
The defending PacWest Champion Lancers were also selected by the conference coaches to successfully defend their title—in overwhelming fashion.
CBU garnered 11 of a possible 14 first-place votes and totaled 189 points. Grand Canyon (161) was second and newcomer and former GSAC-rival Azusa Pacific was picked to finish third with 159 points and three first-place votes.
Meanwhile, Allard was one of three Lancers to be named to the 12-member preseason all-conference team, the most of any other program.
Juniors Bernadette Witz and Kristen Witchey were also named to the team as well. Witchey earned All-PacWest first team honors last year. Witz was named to the NCCAA National Championship All-Tournament Team, her second straight all-tournament team honor in the postseason.
The Lancers begin their 2012 campaign Saturday hosting Cal State Dominguez Hills at 2:30 p.m.
