CBU's slate features 17 PacWest contests, two non-conference matches and two early season tournaments. The Lancers conclude the season with the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Regionals, Nov. 15-16, and then the NCCAA National Tournament, Nov. 29-Dec. 1.
"We have a great schedule put together for the fall," said Higa. "I think the two trips we make to Northern California early in the season will prepare us well for a tough Hawaii trip in October."
The Lancers open their 2012 campaign on the road, traveling north for tournaments at Humboldt State (Aug. 30-31) and Cal State East Bay (Sept. 7-8).
The Lancers have a four-match, mid-season swing in Hawaii, facing UH Hilo, Chaminade, BYU Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific, Oct. 10-15. CBU also goes on the road to face conference foes Azusa Pacific, Dixie State, Point Loma and Grand Canyon.
CBU renews old GSAC rivalries this season as former conference mates Azusa Pacific, Point Loma and Fresno Pacific join the PacWest. The Lancers will take on Fresno Pacific (Nov. 2) and Azusa Pacific (Nov. 3) during homecoming weekend.
"Hosting a pair of matches on homecoming weekend is going to be awesome," said Higa. "We are looking forward to huge turn outs as we start a new tradition of volleyball during homecoming weekend."
The Lancers finished last season 27-10 overall, 11-5 in the PacWest, ending up tied for third overall in the conference standings.
Higa took over the program in the offseason, coming to CBU after serving as an assistant at Mississippi State.
CBU is currently in its third year of the NCAA Division II membership process and hopes to be a full NCAA member by the start of the 2013 season. The Lancers are currently ineligible for NCAA Championships, but can compete for conference titles.
