RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Aaron McCalmont missed moving on to the semis of The Press-Enterprise Performer of the Year poll by 163 votes Wednesday, leaving just one more Lancer with a shot at the semis.
McCalmont, who was nominated four times for Performer of the Week this season, led the Lancers in kills (3.26 per set), points per set (3.88) and digs per set (2.11) over the course of the 2012 season. The junior outside hitter also had a team high 36 service aces and a total of 213 digs.
McCalmont was one of three Lancers nominated for Performer of the Year, which is a bracket style poll featuring athletes from local colleges who have been nominated for weekly top performer polls throughout the year. Emma Holden won Tuesday's opening quarterfinal with a total of 1,384 votes and Mitchell Moore will be in Friday's final quarterfinal poll.
