Jacob Breems begins his fourth year as the assistant sports information director at California Baptist University.
Breems currently handles media relations for baseball, basketball, men's volleyball, women's volleyball, men's golf and women's golf.
Breems came on staff in March 2010, handling media relations for men's volleyball, women's volleyball, women's basketball and softball. During that first year he did play-by-play for all nine games at the softball national championship where the Lancers finished second.
During the 2012-13 season Breems oversaw the Lancers transition into the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) for men's volleyball, implementing all new procedures and handling all media relations for the program as it joined the predominantly NCAA Division I conference.
In 2012 Breems also assisted in the redesign of CBU’s state-of-the-art website utilizing NeuLion’s Titan system to expand multi-media coverage and overhaul the sites' design.
Since coming to CBU, Breems has covered eight national tournaments, assisted in the hosting of the 2010 NAIA Baseball Opening Round and has broadcast both regular season and postseason games for CBU baseball, softball and basketball.
A graduate of CBU, Breems earned a bachelor's degree in history with a minor in journalism in December 2009.
While attending CBU he worked for the award-winning publications “The Banner” and “Angelos,” serving as a senior sports writer and sports editor. Breems also worked with the CBU sports information department as an intern during the fall of 2009, developing feature content for the athletics website.
Breems’ article “Love Mentality” won a Baptist Press Award for best sports copy in 2009.
Breems and his wife Ashley have been married since June 2009. The couple currently resides in Moreno Valley.
