LONG BEACH, Calif. — For the first time in school history California Baptist can lay claim to the Pacific Coast Swim Conference Championship after the Lancer men recorded a final score of 1,536.5 defeating the defending PCSC champion UC San Diego (1,434). “It’s extremely exciting for our guys right now,” said CBU head coach Rick Rowland, who was named the 2008 PCSC Coach of the Year. “We were swimming against teams that were fully shaven and it was tough for us the first couple of days, but we just kept creeping up on teams.” The Lancer women finished fifth with 822 points. Loyola Marymount claimed the title with 1,212 points while Pepperdine finished second (1,166) and Northern Colorado finished third (1,147). Brad Terwilliger broke a couple of school records on his way to being named the Outstanding Swimmer of the PCSC Championships.
