RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University Cheer Head Coach Tami Fleming has announced the addition of 26 incoming recruits as the start of the 2013-14 season is set to get underway.

The 26 newcomers bring with them a host of career accomplishments and accolades, and give the Lancers their largest squad to date with 50 athletes.

“This is the largest and most talented rookie class that we have ever had and I am excited to integrate them into our national championship program,” said Fleming. “Our new athletes combined with our returners will create a college cheer team unlike any other here in the state of California. We are loaded with talent and a desire to work hard at representing our school. CBU cheer will continue their standard of excellence and commitment to God as we live out our team motto: Passion, God, Success.”

The incoming class features a total of seven transfers and 19 freshmen, and boasts five ex-gymnasts and four NCA All-Americans. Four of the seven transfers are coming from Top 3 finishers at the NCA College National Championships and 15 of the former prep athletes are coming from teams who competed at the 2013 Cheerleading World Championships. The incoming class also boasts one bronze medalist and two gold medalists from the 2013 World Championships.

CBU is coming off its first ever championship at the NCA College Nationals last year. The Lancers open up early season training and competition this week as they head to the NCA College Camp in Las Vegas. CBU won a Gold Paid Bid to the NCA Nationals at the camp last season. The camp runs Aug. 1-3 at the Hilton Lake Las Vegas.
