SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- For the 10th time in 11 years, California Baptist University is bound for the postseason. There is a different feel this time around, as the Lancers are playing in the NCAA for the first time.

CBU's inaugural trip into the NCAA Division II postseason begins at the West Regional Tournament, which is hosted by UC San Diego Thursday through Saturday with the championship round being played out Monday. The Lancers earned the third seed out of the six-team field after finishing the regular season with a 37-13 record and a 20-12 trek through the PacWest which earned it a share of second place in the conference.

West Regional action will open with California Baptist University Thursday when it takes on No. 4 Cal Poly Pomona (32-15) at 11 a.m. In the most recent Division II rankings, CBU is tabbed 16th and Cal Poly Pomona is outside the top 30 but receiving votes.

The Lancers and Broncos split a pair of games at Totman Stadium on March 22nd, with CBU taking the opener 5-3 and Cal Poly rebounding for a 15-4 victory.

The winner will move on to face the victor of Thursday's 3 p.m. game between No. 2 Chico State (39-13) and fifth-seeded Dixie State (35-15) Friday at 7 p.m. The loser will face the winner of Thursday's 7 p.m. finale between top-seeded host UC San Diego (35-14) and No. 6 Sonoma State (27-16) at 3 p.m. Friday.
