RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Hoping he can add some extra fire power to California Baptist University's already successful arsenal, Trevone Williams accepted an offer to transfer from NCAA Division I Cal State Northridge.
Williams spent two active seasons with the Matadors and made an impact from the forward position. As a redshirt freshman, Williams scored in double figures in nine games, including a season-high 15 points and eight rebounds in a close 74-69 loss at Cal Poly on Jan. 26, 2013.
Following a great redshirt freshman campaign, Williams continued to contribute to the Matadors' success this past year. CSUN finished with an 11-3 record at home, including an 80-77 overtime victory over Austin Peay (11/22/13) where Williams scored seven points and snagged three rebounds. He scored 11 points and grabbed six boards to help the Matadors claim a commanding 84-57 win over Southern Utah (12/3/13).
Prior to his collegiate career, Williams was a standout star at Westchester High School, where the Comets chalked up a 115-12 record with Williams on the court. WHS took home the Western League championship all four years and went to the Division I state and Los Angeles City championships during the 2009-10 campaign. As a senior, Williams was named MVP of the Western League and gained All-State, All-City and All-Western League honors over the course of his four years.
Williams looks to duplicate the Lancers' successful 2013-14 campaign, where CBU went 24-4 and made its first-ever NCAA Division II Championship Tournament appearance, along with the program's first PacWest title.
