RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- If the six weekly freshman of the week honors were any indication, it came as no surprise that Kamille Diaz would take home the PacWest Freshman of the Year award. She also joined teammates Cassidy Mihalko and Erin Asher on the all-conference teams, as announced Thursday.
Diaz led California Baptist University in scoring, averaging 13.6 points per game. She hit a PacWest-best 78 three-pointers and dished out a total of 86 assists to rank sixth in the conference. Diaz finished in double-digit points 18 times, including a career-high 30 points in a 76-69 CBU victory over Fresno Pacific.
Mihalko earned third team recognition in her collegiate debut, averaging a second-best 12.1 ppg for the Lancers. She led the conference with a 43.9 shooting percentage from beyond the arc and sat third with a 48.5 field goal percentage.
Asher rounded out the trio with honorable mention honors, finishing the regular season with 9.2 ppg. She dished out 77 assists to rank ninth in the PacWest and held an 81.2 free throw percentage in conference to stand seventh in the league standings.
The Lancers (15-11) look to extend their season as they head to the PacWest Tournament Friday for a 5:30 p.m. semifinal tipoff. CBU will face the winner of Hawai'i Hilo and Hawai'i Pacific en route to its first conference tournament championship and a trip to the NCAA Division II National Tournament.
