INDUSTRY, Calif. – California Baptist University ended the longest break of its season to compete against eight NCAA Division I teams in the Folino Invitational Monday.

Through two rounds, the Lancers sit in a two-way, sixth-place tie out of a nine-team field that includes host Cal State Fullerton, Sacramento State, Utah State, Grand Canyon, Rutgers and Bakersfield. The Lancers, who are ranked 18th in Division II by GolfStat, shot a collective 45-over-par, two-round tally of 621.

CBU's top-three finishers banded together well, each finishing within one shot of one other to crack the top-30 individual leader board.

California Baptist University's Micah Machado sits in a seven-way tie for 18th place with a two-round score of 154 after shooting a 79 and two-over-par 75 in the first and second rounds, respectively. Steven Watson’s 155 (77, 78) led to him cracking the top-25 in a five-person deadlock. Tai Kuida tied with seven others for 30th with a 74 and 82 in the opening rounds.

CBU’s final five were just four shots off their teammates, as Glenn Hakes (82, 78) and Fredrik Hansson (81, 79) each carded 160s. The pair finished in a three-way tie for 41st

The Lancers will look to climb up the Folino Invitational standings Tuesday, as the event comes to a close. They will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday, as well, in the Coyote Classic hosted by Cal State Bernardino.
