Qualifying in Colorado

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. --- The California Baptist University Lancers started their three-day meet with eight individual NCAA Division II “B” Qualifying times along with eight total team wins.

Courtney Chacon grabbed first in the 500 free with a “B” qualifying standard time of 5:01.53, followed by Kylie Mihld in second with her qualifying time of 5:06.83. Anna Megli finished in third (5:12)--just shy of the “B” standard cut--helping the Lancer women to a first-place lead on the day.

Yosita Hapsari placed first in the 200 IM with her “B” cut time of 2:05.87, right in front of teammate Kyndal Terwilliger who qualified with a time of 2:05.98.

Hailey Golden also finished in first place with her 24.13 qualifying time in the 50 free. The Lancer women won both the 200 free relay (1:38.83) and the 400 medley relay (3:59.24).

Breanne Schlenger placed first on the 1M platform scoring a 427.20 followed by Lauren Skinner with a score of 418.25. Miranda King grabbed fifth with her score of 312.60.

On the men’s side, Derek Wedel grabbed first in the 500 free with a time of 4:36.08 leading right in front of teammate Elijah Barrows with a time of 4:37.75, both qualifying with “B” standard times.

Josh Hanson finished in first in the 200 IM grabbing a “B” qualifying time of 1:49.85.

The Lancer men won the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:23.87 and finished in third in the 200 free relay in 1:26.40.

The CBU women currently hold first with 328 points, while the men hold second with 254 points, just 14 behind Colorado Mesa.
