RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Even though California Baptist University's season wasn't able to get an extension into post-season action, four Lancers made an impression on PacWest coaches throughout the season to earn themselves all-conference honors.
Four Lancers were named to the All-PacWest Volleyball Team, as announced Wednesday, in Kim McCalmont, Malika O'Brien, Jelena Dragovic and Katie Rotondo. McCalmont and O'Brien each grabbed second-team honors, while Dragovic and Rotondo picked up honorable mention.
McCalmont led the Lancers with 344 kills to average 3.24 kills per set, ranking her seventh in the PacWest. She tied for second on the team with 29 aces and finished second-best on the year with 2.69 digs per set. She also tallied 58 total blocks as an outside hitter.
O'Brien provided a defensive wall for the Lancers, racking up 151 total blocks to average 1.42 blocks per set, the highest in the conference and the fourth-best amongst all of NCAA Division II. The sophomore middle blocker finished the year with 2.42 kills per set average and .252 hitting percentage.
Dragovic topped CBU with a .290 hitting clip, ranking 10th in the PacWest. The junior finished the year with a second-best 83 blocks on the year, averaging 0.78 blocks per set.
Rounding out CBU's selection was freshman libero Rotondo. In her collegiate debut, Rotondo kept the Lancers alive defensively with a team-high 348 digs to average 3.82 digs per set. She added 48 assists on the year and had a second-best 30 aces for the Lancers.
CBU finished the year with a 17-11 overall record and ranked 10th in the last NCAA Division II Regional Poll, just on the cusp of making the Lancers' first-ever NCAA championship tournament.
