RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Alex Anderson was named the PacWest Player of the Week, as announced Monday, after he scored crucial goals to lift California Baptist University 2-0-0 on the week.
In last week's 3-2 win over Hawaii Hilo, Anderson scored twice, including the eventual game-winner. He first put the Lancers up 2-0 in the 40th minute and added his second of the game in the second half to give CBU a 3-0 lead--which proved to be a clutch goal as the Vulcans scored two goals in the last five minutes.
Three days later as the Lancers were trailing 1-0 to Hawaii Pacific, Anderson found the back of the net for his sixth goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1. CBU would go on to win its first overtime victory, forcing the Sea Warriors to concede an own goal in extra time to give the Lancers the 2-1 win.
Anderson currently sits tied for third in the conference for most goals at six and second in points with 15 on the season.
The Lancers (4-3-1, 4-2-0) host Chaminade on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., before taking a break from PacWest action to host Azusa Pacific for a non-conference competition on Saturday, also slotted for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff time.
