RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University’s second go round in the MPSF is set with the release of the Lancers’ 2014 slate.
The slate features a total of 24 conference matches and just seven non-conference contests.
CBU opens the season once again in Santa Barbara for four matches at the UCSB Invitational, Jan. 3-4, before jumping right into conference play.
The Lancers open the MPSF season on the road Jan. 8 at Cal State Northridge before hosting Long Beach State in the team’s home opener.
Playing home and away matches with every conference member except Hawaii, CBU has highlighted contests against Stanford on Jan. 25, BYU Feb. 1, USC on Feb. 26, defending NCAA Champs UC Irvine March 12 and then UCLA on March 27 in the team’s final home match. The Lancers travel to Hawaii for a pair of contests against the Warriors Feb 12 and 14.
CBU closes the season with four road matches in April, finishing at UCLA April 11 before the start of the MPSF Tournament. The top eight teams in the 13 team conference play in the conference tournament, with host sites determined by seeding.
The Lancers finished last season tied for sixth in the MPSF standings, but were ineligible for postseason play as they completed the transition into the NCAA. CBU is now fully eligible for all NCAA postseason competition.
